Im not totally sure what i need? do i need a full tower or a mid-tower, and nothing to expensive, here are the specs on my computer im planning or building
1. XFX nForce 680i LT Mobo
2.XFX 8800's series (8800GT, GTS, or GTX) not sure yet
3.Intel Core Quad(Q6600)
4.OCZ SLI-ready edition 4GB(2x2GB)
5.Western Digital 500GB 7200 RPM Hard drive
6.Pc power and cooling/ 750-watt, SLI- and Quad ready
7.Samsung 20x DVD Burner with lightscribe
8. And CPU cooler( dont know what to get here, either, help would be nice)
9. and a video card cooler,( do i need one of these?, and please recomend me one, if needed)
please list anyhing im missing, 1st time building a gaming rig, thanks!
P.S. I want a case big anough, so i can do ';SLI'; with 2 graphic cardsWhich computer case should i get?( gaming rig)?
For the case, Antec 900 isn't too expensive, one of the best at the moment.
CPU Cooler for a quad. Any decent copper heat-piped cooler with a side mounted fan, not a top mounted one (so the hot air is not being blown at the CPU).
If you get the 8800GT you will need a cooler for it, they hit over 90C at stock freq.
HR-03 are the best GPU coolers about, get a nice fast 120mm for it.
As for the GT/GTS/GTX,
what resolution is your monitor because a 8800GT would do for 1280x1024.
However if you have a high res monitor like 1920x1200 up, then the extra bandwidth of the GTX 768MB/ GTS 512MB would make a noticeable improvement.
Any 7 pci slot case will accommodate up to 4 graphics cards (ATI)
or 3 graphics cards (SLI)Which computer case should i get?( gaming rig)?
ok, don't bother with VGA cooler, because your case will have enough airflow in it.
get the antec nine hundred, one seriously awesome case and probably what you go with.

if you can afford it get the Thermaltake Sword M about 3 times the price of the nine hundred, but about 10x better

for the CPU cooler, you don't need one unless you're overclocking, take a look at Thermaltake MaxOrb

you might think about getting a raptor 150gb 10,000RPM drive.
if you're going to SLI get the GTS, because it looks like youre going to get one card now, one later, if that's the case it'll be easier to find a 2nd GTS than a GTX and you'd get a bigger boost in going SLI with the higher end cards.
so if you're going SLI forget the GT.
If you're getting both now, get the GTX
if you're getting one now, and one later, get GTS
and both of those cases are massive
Either case will work.
As for cost, the prices vary, but you may find that a midtower is what fits your needs better.
A full tower has more room for more hard drives, fans, plus you will need to make sure the connecting cables are long enough.
4GB of RAM, you will need a 64-bit OS to be able to utilize all of it. If running a 32-bit OS, go with 3GB(2x1GB + 2x512KB), all the same speed, manufacturer. Phystical Address Extension (PAE) wont help if running 32bit XP and PCI-Express. You can check with 'msinfo32' command and convert the hex addresses to see how much is allocated to the devices.
If you are going to do the SLI thing, make sure there is enough room between the PCI-E slots to fit 2. Also the video card(s) may cover some ports (lengthwise), such as SATA ports.
Video/CPU cooler, you may be ok with the retail fans, but look into Zalman products.
