Rust On Computer Case?

On the side of my blue VIPER PC case, there seems to be a small build up of ';hard to touch'; orange stuff.

I don't know what to do -- my room has air passing through because i leave my door and windows opened 80% of time however i cant keep them shut all the time cause after a while my room smells strange (it seems to get a musky smell).

Also, there is a sink in the room where the PC is, it is used sometimes. (i think the musky smell comes from within the pipes of the sink - i don't know why)

Does any of this (above) contribute to this rust like substance and how do i stop or control this rust?Rust On Computer Case?
man it sounds like you have a water leak some where. it must get hot in their it will make the water evap. try to keep the room cool but for the rust on the side of the PC that bad because the fan inside is pulling the air from the room an trying to cool the mothers board chip. an with the air being moist it will make the mother board rust too. all i can say till u find what is keeping the air so moist put a air filter over the fan inlet not a thick one ( one that will allow the air to go threw) or go old rover a get some of the armanhammer baking soda box's an put them around the room mainly near the sink. that will suck some of the moister up.Rust On Computer Case?
I think you are asking in a wrong category this category is cars %26amp; transportation maintenance and repairs. but to answer your question it is not because of that it is because of dust and moisture so you should always clean your computer case that's the only solution. but if it already have rust you should clean it and paint it with an enamel paint.
